It’s not every day you get to spend time with the extraordinary genius that is Jeff Goldblum, and a personal highlight for our director Tim Fox, who managed to convince him to climb inside a grand piano, play all sorts of ridiculous games but managed to not mention Jurassic park once…OK, just one time.
Mr Goldblum, as well as starring in a few minor films, is also an accomplished jazz pianist and has been performing regularly with his band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. This is his album, and we think you’re going to like it.
Monument took charge of the entire campaign, broadcast and digital. With over 270 deliverable assets ranging from vertical interviews for Instagram, YouTube pre-rolls, track-by-track commentary, TV commercials and Facebook teasers. Shot over two epic, memorable days in LA. What you won’t see is Jeff pretending to eat hot noodles, Jeff playing the theme tune to Jurassic park, and Jeff grunting as he plays piano.
Designed to capture people’s attention during TV ad breaks, we shot a wide range of pieces to camera with Jeff coaxing the viewer to listen in his elegant and fully ad-libbed dialogue. With Jeff all you need do is point the camera at him and watch pure gold flow from his mind.
“Get Inside My Jazz” was the strapline we came up with for this pre roll campaign. And in these youtube pre-rolls, designed to keep the viewer watching past the compulsory 5 seconds, we persuaded Jeff to do just that. What you will see below is something you will never unsee.
We designed a number of scenarios for Jeff to be Jeff in, that would make up the scenes to our TV commercial but also work individually as teasers. Shot with vertical, square and standard dimensions in mind, we managed to turn one shoot into over 270 assets for broadcast and digital platforms.
